Streetlife
From the start of his career in 1979, documenting the streetlife has formed an important part of Wim Lamboo's work. In all the countries he visited he captured the social circumstances and the changes through time, often returning and revisiting many of the places he had photographed before. "My way of being socially active was through the camera", says Lamboo.
This concerned documentary street photography has been made into post cards in the eighties and nineties and was published in various illustrated magazines and newspapers, such as the Dutch Trouw and Leidsch Dagblad. A series of Leiden streetlife was acquired by the City Archive in Leiden (Gemeente Archief Leiden).
The countries Lamboo visited include: Senegal, Maroc, Nepal, former Yugoslavia, Swiss, England (Wales), Germany (former DDR/East Germany), Latvia, Estonia, Lithuania, Poland, Romania, Bulgaria, Hungary, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Moldova and Transnistria.
The work is still in progress.
